- Hotel Sabalos Lodge -
The Rio San Juan is the perfect destination for the true adventurer and nature lover and Sabalos Lodge offers the perfect setting from which to explore the beauty of the Nicaraguan wilderness along the Rio San Juan. The area surrounding the lodge is incredibly diverse and home to howler and white-faced monkeys, a large number of birds, varieties of mammals, and many species of reptiles. Guests are encouraged to take a dip in the crystal clear water deep within the rainforest, hike various trails located within the private nature reserve, or relax in one of the riverfront hammocks.
Sabalos Lodge offers individually designed riverside cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms and spectacular views of the San Juan River. The lodge practices true ecotourism and runs on solar energy and hydro electrical power. The well-equipped restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and specializes in fresh fish from the river. Various hikes can be easily undertaken, using horse or by foot on one of the several trails in the private natural reserve. The hotel also has kayaks for rent for the more adventurous traveler.

- Hotel Esquina del Lago -
La Esquina del Lago Jungle River Lodge is situated on 20 acres in the Los Guazutos National Park where the Rio Frio and the Rio San Juan meet Lake Nicaragua. The hotel offers a wide range of activities for those who wish to explore more of the surrounding areas, including world-class fishing, trips to Solentiname Archipelago, El Castillo, and Indio-Mais.
The lodge is located only a short distance from the town of San Carlos and is accessible only by boat. The area surrounding the lodge is extremely diverse with over 61 species of birds in addition to cayman, monkeys, turtles, otters, and iguanas to name a few. Guests can experience the sunsets overlooking Lake Nicaragua and Solentiname Archipelago or climb up to the second floor observatory where six volcanoes can be observed.
The lodge offers comfortable rooms each with private bath and 24 hour electricity. Guests have access to internet and telephone services and the lodge provides a free boat shuttle to San Carlos. Meals are all homemade and the menu is a mixture of French, Italian, and local cuisine.

- Hotel Victoria -
Located in El Castillo and just up the river from the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve, the Hotel Victoria in an excellent place from which to explore the Rio San Juan. Both floors of the hotel have a spacious terrace that offers spectacular views. In addition, there is a small stream located close to the hotel where (with some luck) you can observe caimans.
The rooms at Hotel Victoria, while small, are clean and come equipped with a private bath and hot water. The service is friendly and the hotel restaurant offers a relaxing riverside restaurant and bar. Be sure to try the house specialty – garlic shrimp!
