Program during your stay

The itinerary for your stay is as follows:

Day 1 Arrival in Managua, transfer to Granada, overnight in Granada.
Upon arrival in Managua you will be transferred to Granada, where you will stay in a centrally located colonial style Hotel.

Day 2 Granada, guided tour Las Isletas de Granada, guided city tour, overnight in Granada.
At 10 AM you will be picked up and brought to the harbour for the check-in of the Isletas Tour, a two hour boat trip. The rich flora and fauna of Las Isletas will impress you while passing through some of the 365 islands of volcanic origin. You will visit a Spanish fortress of the 17th Century and relax on one of the islands where you can watch the many migratory birds while having a complementary drink. Around 12.15 PM you will be transferred back to your hotel.

At 15.00 PM you will be picked up for a guided city tour, and visit the following places: the San Francisco Convent and Church (founded in 1524, houses archaeological treasures from Isla Zapatera, a primitive art exhibit, and historical display), The City Cemetery, and La Pólvora fortress. You will also visit the Xalteva Church and the old city walls, the most antique part of Granada. The city tour includes a ride with a traditional horse-drawn carriage.

Day 3 Apoyo Lagoon, Masaya Old Market, Volcano Masaya, transfer to León, overnight in León.
Today you will be picked up at 08.00 AM for your transfer to the colonial city of León, passing by some interesting sites. Before visiting the Masaya handicrafts market, we make a short stop at the romantic village of Catarina, where you can enjoy the breathtaking view over Apoyo Lagoon, overseeing the crater lake, Mombacho Volcano, Granada and Las Isletas. After that, you visit the handicrafts market, a well known place for purchasing all kinds of handicrafts products. Next you will visit National Park Volcan Masaya. Your chauffeur will drive all the way up to the Santiago Crater, where you will be able to see this active volcano up close. You will be surprised by the rough beauty of this volcano and enchanted to spot small green parrots living inside the crater. After having visited the National Park, you will be transferred to the colonial city of León. Lodgment at a fine colonial hotel in León.

Day 4 León, City Tour León, optional touring, overnight in León.
At 09.00 AM you will explore the city of León during a guided city tour. You will visit the biggest cathedral of Central America, the many colorful churches, some historic murals, a museum of fine arts and lots of eye-catching colonial architecture. The afternoon is free to spend as you like. You could relax at the hotel, explore León on your own or do an optional tour to the Cerro Negro Volcano.

Cerro Negro Volcano is the perfect choice for an adventurous guided tour. This active volcano is the youngest on the continent, but also one of the most active. You will reach the summit in about an hour and do an interpretative hike around the crater. After enjoying many spectacular views you will receive a short training from your guide on how to descend in the loose volcanic sand. After having made your way down in an unforgettable manner (ski-like movements) you will return to the colonial city of León.

Day 5 Transfer to Managua, overnight in Managua.
In the afternoon you will be transferred to Managua, where you can enjoy the amenities of this big city, with excellent bars and restaurants.

Day 6 Transfer to Managua International Airport.
