Finca Esperanza Verde (Green Hope Farm) supports sustainable tourism and different initiatives of local environmental friendly development. There are some organic coffee plantations and there is a butterfly farm. Finca Esperanza Verde is a great location for watching wildlife, especially bird wildlife. All benefits generated by tourism or other activities are re-invested in local development projects, like the solar energy project.

You will stay at the Finca for two nights and will stay at a local family in San Ramón for another two nights (in a private room). This way, you will get the unique chance to experience day-to-day life in a true Nicaraguan family. You can choose your own program; all the activities are led by members of the local Youth tourist guide club. We are certain you will enjoy this eco-cultural exchange very much and wish you a very pleasant stay.

Program during your stay

The itinerary for your stay is as follows:

Day 1
You will be picked up for your private transfer to San Ramon, Matagalpa. Here you will get to know the Finca Esperanza Verde project during a lecture. After that, a visit to the butterfly farm, where you can witness some of the most breathtaking species.

Day 2
Today you will learn all about organic coffee production. It includes a presentation and a guided visit to an organic coffee farm. You will have a camp fire dinner enjoying some musical performances of local musicians.

Day 3 + 4

Today you will meet your host family! You will stay with this family for two nights in a private room and with bathing facilities. In the morning, afternoon and evening you can do an activity of your choice. The optional (but included) activities are:
* school visit (share your skills with the class)
* attend an art or jeweler shop with local artisans
* climb the nearby mountains
* bird watching
* visit a coffee cooperative with a swimming pool
* dinner enjoying local musical performances
* attend a baseball game at the stadium (if there is a game in town)

Day 5
After enjoying breakfast it is already time to say goodbye to your guest family and around noon, a private transfer will bring you back to Managua.
